How do you want to celebrate your 1st wedding anniversary?

N + A traveled from Ohio to California to celebrate their first wedding anniversary at the resort town of Avalon on Catalina Island. I took the ferry over from Long Beach to meet them, and although scheduling and weather meant we only had about an hour or so of daylight, we made the most of it. Thankfully they had rented golf carts, which made getting around the island quick and super fun! Our first stop was downtown Avalon, where the colorful charm of the town gave us the perfect backdrop for photos.

Next, we stopped at their hotel, which overlooked the ocean and had architecture that felt like we’d been transported somewhere in Europe. The resort even had its own private beach, where we caught the last bit of light before turning completely dark. They celebrated with cake to finish the evening, and I got to learn more about Indian wedding traditions as we chatted before I caught the ferry back.

It was such a thoughtful way to celebrate their first year of marriage, and I loved that they chose to document it with photos they can look back on for decades. I’m so grateful they invited me into such a meaningful milestone!
