What moments capture the real you as a couple?
C + K’s first date was at Monkish Brewery, so naturally, we kicked off their session with a pint and a couple of 6-packs for the picnic afterward. From the start, it was clear that they’re not just partners, but actually best friends. They had both given me a heads-up that they were super awkward in front of the camera, but we got comfortable pretty quickly since we already knew each other personally. I loved how they made each other laugh to ease the nerves, and it was so telling to see how much they moved as a team.
When we went to the nearby park for the picnic portion, their playful side came out even more. They’re not a super serious couple, and I loved watching them embrace that — laughing, being silly, and letting their inner child shine. What stood out the most was how quickly they forgot the camera was even there. It was such a wholesome experience to document them just being their complete selves. By the time we wrapped up, they were fully immersed in their own world.
One of the most meaningful moments for me came afterward: her younger brother (and one of my closest friends from high school) told me he actually teared up looking at their photos. Because he knows them so well, he could imagine their conversations and laughter while going through the gallery. He thanked me for capturing their relationship so authentically, and being validated for the way I tell my couples’ love stories meant the world to me.
Personally, photographing couples isn’t just about taking “nice” photos. It’s about documenting who you are together, in a way that makes your friends, family, and even future selves feel your love in every image. Every couple deserves to be truly seen, and I’m honored to create that space for you!
