The first maternity photos I’ve ever taken was for my friend Michelle, who I’ve known since middle school. She was the first person in our friend group to get pregnant and start a family, so listening to her talk about her hopes and dreams as a mother completely changed the way I approached my future maternity sessions. She beautifully articulated why this era of her life meant everything to her, and hearing that same sentiment shared with other couples inspires me to show up even harder.

I have deep respect for people who are committed to creating a healthier home life than the one they grew up in. It will forever be a honor to help document the beginning of this journey (‘:

Every parent wants to take some cute photos as a family to remember these early years, but you quickly realize that a 1 year old is way too young to sit still and smile at the camera. Instead of getting frustrated and forcing them to cooperate which NEVER works out, I love to work with them.

If they run away, we’ll get some playful shots of you chasing after them. If they want to be held the entire time, we’ll seat you at a nice bench and get some close ups of you snuggling them. They start crying because they need the bottle or snacks? We’ll take a break and get some candid photos of you embracing being parents together.

The parents who get it always tell me they loved that I got a few shots of their kid crying. It’s completely appropriate for their age, and it warms my heart when they say they can’t wait to relive them when they’re older (‘:
Being able to help document a family’s journey together is so beautiful and I’m here for all of the chaos!!
